Every year, thousands of researchers use Understanding Society’s youth data to look at issues that affect young people. We are highlighting this research through our new fun and interactive web area.
At Understanding Society we want the young people in the study to see how the lives of children and teens varies across the UK and how important their survey answers are for researchers looking at some of the big issues affecting children and teens.
Dr Jon Burton, Survey Director for Understanding Society explains more. “The website is targeted at 10–15-year-olds. However, we believe that parents and anyone interested in childhood research would benefit from having a browse.
“We highlight different types of research that has affected young people’s lives, for example, how many children want to continue studying after 16, what actions lead to better mental health, how do children use technology, and the all-important – who’s saving and who’s spending their pocket money…”
The team is aiming to update the website every year with the latest statistics. There are also regular updates on the participants page so please keep a close eye on that one too.
